Hello again!

Hello again. My apologies for not posting in the past years....a lot has happened, I have gotten married, had a child, changed jobs, taken a year off, and am now working again. In the meantime, I have reflected quite a bit on my mission of this organization. It has finally come to head after listening to Tony Biglan speak today at MassABA. He is the author of The Nurture Effect. I thought again about what I originally wanted when I started this company. I realized it was getting away from what my original mission was; to help and support families dealing with significant problem behaviors, in the home. In the past few years, we have been leaning towards families that had children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum...because that was the only area covered by insurance, if at all.....I want this organization to stay true to what I originally envisioned...ALL families, not just families affected by Autism....Ill write later on how we're going to take action towards this new goal....Thanks for reading!!!😄

Providing Health Insurance

8/3/2012

Hi All,
Just wanted to update you on the issue of our providing health insurance. In Massachusetts, your insurance company is required to cover ABA services IF your child or the insured is officially diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. That also includes Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD). If your child or the insured does not match this criteria, the insurance company may still cover the service. You will need to provide us with your insurance card at the time of the first face to face session and we will take care of the rest in order to determine if services will be covered and/or reimbursed. If there are any questions please go to the Contact Us section of this website or just email us directly.

WOW!! What a few months!! BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! The most exciting news is that ARICA is being enforced! I am still in the process of becoming an insurance provider but I'm still trying to learn all the in and outs of in-network and out-of-network logistics...Just remember if you have a family member with Autism and you require ABA Services, research your insurance company because now they are required by law to cover ABA Services (by a BCBA)
APBA had their first national conference in Boston at the beginning of April and seemed to have a a really good turn out! I came out with a lot of new information and resources that I'm really excited about. Summer is coming and that means the busier time of year for The Parent Helper!! Make sure you leave your contact information if you are interested in services and would like some more information.... Have a

Attention: Blue and Gold Star Families

I regret to say that rarely do I think about the struggles military families face. We all get choked up seeing homecomings on news shows, but we need to think about the problems that spouses and families face when their loved one is currently serving, has come home from serving, and/or has been killed while serving....The stress and anxiety is hard to recognize due to the proud and strong spouses and parents' ability to work through it.
Well, The Parent Helper wants to do it's part....Please contact us through the link to the left...if you are or know someone who have a loved one in the military and who may benefit from our services ...We will provide Pro Bono services to military families that may need our help.
God Bless our Troops!!

Did you know that Massachusetts, by law is required to provide Early Intervention Services? To my surprise, some don't. They also don't know all of the services that Early Intervention includes!
